Only the right button counts. Left clicks show a reminder and are ignored. Scores are saved in this browser only.

How the right click CPS test works

What gets counted

The pad listens for the moment the right button goes down, not when it comes back up, and blocks the context menu so nothing pops up mid-run. The clock starts on your first right click, or the first tap when tap mode is on, and is read with a high-resolution timer. Your score is the number of counted clicks divided by the length you picked. Peak burst is the most clicks you landed inside any second, which shows your top speed even if you tired out later in a 30 or 60 second run.

Typical right-click speeds

Most people land between 4 and 7 CPS with the right button, a little below their left-click speed because the middle finger is weaker and less practised. 8 to 10 CPS is fast. Butterfly or jitter technique can push past 12 over a short run, but almost nobody holds that for 60 seconds. Compare both buttons with the click speed test. Very high numbers on a short run can also come from a switch that bounces, so read the last section before you brag.

Why right-click speed matters in games

In Minecraft the right button places blocks, so it decides how fast you can bridge, tower up or build a quick wall in a PvP fight. Speed bridging and god bridging depend on placing blocks the instant your crosshair reaches the edge. A steady 7 to 9 CPS on the right button is a practical target for bridging. Train with the 10 second mode, then check you can hold the pace for 30.

Checking a worn right mouse button

Missed or doubled clicks

If the counter skips presses you know you made, or jumps by two on a single press, the switch under the right button may be worn. Old or cheap switches bounce, and the mouse reads one press as two. Slow, deliberate right clicks make this easy to spot: count ten presses and see if the pad agrees. The double click test times the gap between doubled clicks, and the mouse testerchecks every button, so you can find out whether a "gaming grade" mouse lives up to its box.

Browser limits

The browser only sees what your mouse and operating system report, so a mouse with built-in debounce may drop very fast presses. Trackpads count a two-finger tap as a right click, but are slower to spam. On touch screens there is no right button, which is why tap mode counts plain taps as a fallback. A run that includes a tap is not saved as a right-click best.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the right click CPS test work?

Right click the pad. The timer starts on that first right click and runs for 1, 5, 10, 30 or 60 seconds, whichever you picked. Your score is the number of right clicks divided by that many seconds. The pad blocks the browser menu on itself, so the menu does not pop up mid-run.

Do left clicks count?

No. Only the right mouse button counts, and it counts on the press, not the release. A left click shows a short reminder and is ignored. With tap mode on, a finger or stylus tap also counts. A run that includes a tap is labeled as taps per second and is not saved as a right-click best.

What is a good right-click CPS?

Most people land between 4 and 7 with the right button, a little below their left-click speed. 8 to 10 is fast. Butterfly or jitter technique can pass 12 on a short run, but almost nobody holds that for 60 seconds. A steady 7 to 9 is a practical target for Minecraft bridging.

What do the result labels mean?

Under 3 CPS is Warming up. 3 and above, but below 5, is Casual. 5 and above, but below 7, is Above average. 7 and above, but below 9, is Fast. 9 and above, but below 11, is Very fast. 11 and above, but below 14, is Elite. 14 and above is labeled "Is that a macro?"

What is peak burst?

Peak burst is the most clicks you landed inside any one second of the run. On a 30 or 60 second test it can be higher than your CPS if you were faster at the start and slowed down later.

Can I use a phone, tablet or trackpad?

A real right-click score needs a mouse with a right button. On a phone or tablet, tap mode counts plain taps instead, and that score is tap speed, not right-click speed. A trackpad two-finger tap counts as a right click, but it is slower to repeat than a mouse button.

Why did one press count twice, or not register?

The browser only sees what your mouse and operating system report. A worn right-button switch can bounce, so one press becomes two, or it can skip a press. Press slowly ten times and see if the pad agrees. Built-in debounce on the mouse can also drop very fast presses.
